Map Trucks

Sammons Trucking has approximately 300 trucks in their system.  We currently map about 250 of these trucks.  The map is updated every 15 minutes.  You will notice there are several different colored dots.  There meanings are as follows:

Map Truck Features

Locations

Each Truck has a unique geocode address. When more than two trucks are in the same location, the geocode is changed so that the trucks “stack” on each other. This way a dispatcher can easily tell if there is more than one truck available in an area. The image on the right shows 9 trucks in Odessa, TX.

List View

There are two tabs on the map: Map – which is the default where you see the dots on the map. List – Where you see a list of the trucks that are being plotted on the map. This at times can be a slightly easier way to see who is listed on the map. You can toggle between the two by clicking on the List and Map tabs.

Search Fields

There are a number of ways to filter trucks and practice is the best method to start with. The more fields you enter the more narrow the list will be. In general it’s best to start broad and use more fields to further narrow the search results as needed.

Driver Detail

The driver detail screen has a lot of information, including a ‘note’ history of conversations with the driver and ‘loads’ history of any loads that truck has done with our office. We continue to update a driver’s information as his equipment changes. It is the responsibility of a dispatcher to review a driver’s information and update as necessary. If everyone is committed to this task, then everyone benefits from accurate information.
