Heavy Loads, We Got You Covered

Dispatcher Phone Headset

USB or Inline Stereo Plug

Your computer can likely accept either type of headphone system, but not necessarily, so you need to check.  Depending where your computer sits in relation to where you sit at your desk will depend on whether you can plug in your headset via the front, back, side, or other location on your computer.  Cable length may also be an important consideration.

USB

This type is common on all computers.

Inline Stereo

If this type is available on your computer, it can often be found on the back, but more computers are being made with it available on the front as well.

The Headset

The headset itself should be a one sided ear speaker.  Avoid the two sided ear speakers as that can make it sound like you're talking in a tunnel.  Also, because we work from a home office, we are less concerned about a noisy environment like you would find in a busy call center.  The headset should have a boom mic as well.  A wired version allows for an excellent connection and doesn't require batteries or charging etc.

Our phone system recommends Plantronics brand.  I found the model below having excellent reviews. It's called the Plantronics C310-M.  I've seen it priced around $40 - $55.
